What is IELTS?
The globally recognised English proficiency test for study, work, and migration
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) acts as an avenue to universities for studying abroad. The IELTS testing system exhibits a real-world context and approach, making it significant for visa and migration purposes.
More than 10,000 education institutes depend on the IELTS scores obtained by a candidate.
This test is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP Education, and Cambridge Assessment English.
There are more than 1,200 testing centres for IELTS present across 140 countries and territories.
IELTS constitutes two types of tests: Academic and General. The Academic IELTS is for students looking for the opportunity to study abroad at a university or college, hence securing a good score is essential. The General IELTS emphasises managing and sustaining one's living standards through the development of English language comprehension β commonly required for migration to English-speaking countries.
Candidates are assessed on their ability to listen and grasp the language in minimum time, read material presented in English, write accurately, and speak fluent English. The test is a trusted and respected form of English language assessment that enables students to perfect their communication skills.
